Macmillan Cancer Support hosted their annual fundraiser today, the Macmillan Coffee Morning, with events popping up all over the country to raise some much needed funds. With baked treats being the flavour of the moment following the new series of The Great British Bake Off, we were keen to get involved and all in the name of charity.
We gathered in our London studio this morning to sample the wares over a cup of coffee and we then got to vote for our favourite entry. Donations began to fly in on our Just Giving page and our baking enthusiasts patiently waited to see who would win the envied prize of ‘Star Baker’!
Once the votes were counted and the donations tallied, the winners of the baking competition were announced. Alex won with her divine Bulletproof branded chocolate cake, 2nd prize went to Chris for his CMYK cake and 3rd prize went to Emma for her delicious bacon and maple syrup muffins. Well done guys! But most importantly, we managed to collect a whopping £700 (with a little help from Bulletproof which matched our donations pound for pound) for the charity!
The coffee morning is a fantastic initiative by Macmillan to get together and raise money for a cause that is close to many people. Last year it raised over £25 million pounds towards the support provided by Macmillan to cancer patients. Let’s hope they can top that this year!
